Arkansas Black apples

These are good keepers, I am told, so I didn't get around to trying one until last night. Wow, these are good. From what I tasted, they seem like luscious full-bodied apples that taste like the best of autumn, waiting patiently to be bitten.

A++ would bite again.

Oh those are my absolute favorite apples!

The longer you let them sit in a cool, dark place, the sweeter they get. They're great, long lasting apples. WE can usually find them at the local apple growers well into March as a result.

They are tasty. They're also Southern type apples. They should not ripen sweetly in my (central Illinois) area. Now they do: a sign of global warming. O_O

Oh dear. Yeah.

Thirty years ago one of Juan's coworkers in agronomy/soil,water&climate/remote sensing told him that the global warming thing was real, because the stuff he was studying had shifted its range 150 miles north.

When I was little, my yard was Zone 5b. It is now 6a and has been for quite some time. I noticed that shift -- based on plant, animal, and weather phenomena -- long before even the Arbor Day Association updated their map, and it was years later before the government admitted it and updated the official one. So yeah, 30 years sounds about right to me.
