Cream of Refrigerator Soup is our name for something you make when you really need to use up leftovers. This may or may not be because you cannot afford more food just then. Either way, it's useful stuff.

The thing I am having for supper is not soup, but it's useful edible leftovers-based stuff. It tastes so good that I want to write down what went into it in case I want to do it on purpose later.

purple mustard - tablespoon or so
mayonnaise or other handy savory spread - tablespoon or so
spices - there is Penzey's Tsar Dust in the cupboard, so we got a little pelmeny-like thing going

Stir 'em up, mix 'em well.

green onions - two, thinly sliced

Stir 'em in.

hardboiled egg yolks - two, mashed into little bits

Stir 'em in. Mix thoroughly.

Chop up the following:

hard-boiled egg whites - two
that heel of rye bread that's getting stale - about 1 1/2 full sized slices' worth, made into croutons

Stir it all in. Mix thoroughly.
Eat and go "nom nom nom!"

Rye bread and purple mustard are pretty much guaranteed to become something I will like, so it wasn't that much of an experiment, really.

Contents of Cabinet Chicken, over here, for an occasionally pretty broad definition of 'chicken'.

Well THAT sure sounds like a thing.

They send me a bonus packet of Tsar Dust in with a gift and we've been calling it Romanov Mummy Spice ever since, but possibly we should actually try it, we all like things in the pelmeny direction here. We weren't committed to not trying it before. Just. Well.

Purple mustard sounds intriguing. What's in it other than ground mustard seed?

Looks like it's mustard with grapes?

Moutarde Violette is an amazing mustard with a deep violet color from Southern France. The flavor is a combination of spicy, whole black mustard seeds combined with the sweetness of reduced grape must (the juice of just-pressed wine grapes). Clove-scented with a mouthwatering tang.
