On the Doing of Needful Things: the will
Nov. 30th, 2023 11:28 amIt's unexpectedly odd, this doing of one's will and being asked by one's lawyer to give an itemized list of all one's creative properties. For one thing, that's a long list and I am absolutely sure I'm forgetting things and leaving stuff out. But the oddest bit is how it feels like a retrospective collection or exhibit or something. Were it not for the fact that the show belongs to an older generation than mine, I'd half expect "This Is Your Life!" to pop out of the woodwork at any moment.
Also, seeing through-lines in one's own work is decidedly trippy, I gotta say.
Have you made a will yet?
(I partly want one so that there will be someone who can grant permission to reprint certain things for free to people and organizations who ask. And this is how to do that, so I'm doing it. But mostly I want it so that my sister is not stuck cleaning out all my stuff, and that J is not burdened with what would be bureaucratic/paperwork/communication/cleaning hell for him.)
