Well, OK, just one particular thing. But it still makes me laugh as if it's the first time. Long ago he poked his head into my workshop while I was sorting in some new beads, and said cheerfully, "Counting flax seeds, sweetie?"

(Half a century ago, there were stories about supernatural creatures that could be distracted if one strewed seeds in front of them, because they'd start counting the seeds and not be able to stop until they'd done all of them.)

Edited to add: Whether or not the supernatural creatures had ADHD with hyperfocus the way I do is an open question, I guess.

This morning, Juan sent me a link to http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html. I looked it over, and at the link where CERN would like to know a bit more about you and why you came to look at their page, I put:

"Romance, actually. My husband sending me this link was like saying "Let me take you back to that little cafe where we used to meet."

I remember Juan telling me about this thing called the WorldWideWeb. Back when it was only CERN's line-mode browser, he said "If someone wraps a GUI around this, it's going to eat the world." A couple of months later, NCSA Mosaic was released, and bore out the prediction. And the week that NCSA Mosaic was released for X Windows, he showed me the Web. (Library of Congress Vatican Exhibition, specifically.)

The first time Juan sang "I married a geek girl, yay yay yay!" was when he got me a birthday present I really liked. He handed me a printout. It was the PairNIC confirmation of a domain he had got. The domain name was one of my nicknames (and eventually my business' name) taken from my login name on the WELL.

"Happy birthday," he said.

I made big startled glad eyes at him.

"Sorry I didn't wrap it," he said, grinning.

I clutched it to my chest and uttered a delighted "Oooo!"

That's when he started dancing around the table singing, "I married a geek girl, yay yay yay!"

And today he took me back to that little cafe we used to go to. Geek romance. Gotta love it. Anyhow, that's what I told CERN.
