When laurel posted about that, I googled for more information/background on the story of the lucky sausage, and was amused that one of the first hits was a headline about "how the sausage is made": the thing that people famously don't want to know.

I love how completely innuendo-proof the sports press is, too. They will say the absolute filthiest things without batting an eye. Now there is an entire set of commentary about touching the sausage that goes all sorts of places where you're like, welp, I guess they can say THAT on broadcast, and the announcers do not break out into giggles. It's astonishing.
